Attorney General McDaniel to Visit School of Law

October 28, 2009

Dustin McDaniel

Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel will visit the School of Law Thursday afternoon, Oct. 29, for two appearances. The entire law school community is invited to both.

• From 3:40 to 4:40 pm, Attorney General McDaniel will speak to Professor Rob Leflar’s Products Liability class in Room 326. He will speak about product safety issues such as hazards of Chinese toys and lead paint, and the recent strengthening of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety commission’s powers.  Members of the Products Liability class will have first crack at questions for Mr. McDaniel, but every other member of the law school community is welcome to attend and participate.

• From 5:00 to 6:00 pm in Room 342, Attorney General McDaniel will address the law school and university-wide Young Democrats organizations. Refreshments will be served, and all are welcome.

McDaniel took office in January 2007. He is the youngest Attorney General in the nation. As the state’s top lawyer and consumer advocate, McDaniel and his team have identified curbing methamphetamine production, eliminating payday lenders and assisting consumers through the health care bureau as high priorities.

In the 2009 session of the General Assembly, McDaniel worked with multiple groups and across party lines to propose and pass the state’s first felony animal cruelty law. He is running for re-election in 2010.
