School of Law Well Represented at AALA Educational Symposium

November 7, 2008

University of Arkansas School of Law Professor Susan Schneider, members of the National Agricultural Law Center, and eight Agricultural Law LL.M. candidates attended the 29th American Agricultural Law Association Annual Educational Symposium on Oct. 24-25, 2008, in Minneapolis, Minn. They joined over 210 conference attendees, including more than 20 alumni of the Graduate Program in Agricultural Law.

Professor Schneider played a pivotal role in the conference, first by delivering an update on new developments in food law to the general session and later by moderating a panel that discussed legal issues involving organic production. She also met with a number of prospective LL.M. program applicants and answered their questions about Fayetteville, the Graduate Program, and the School of Law.

The National Agricultural Law Center was represented well with Director Harrison Pittman, senior fellow Erimar von der Osten, and staff attorneys Shannon Mirus, and Beth Springsteen all in attendance. Professor Pittman was instrumental in organizing the panel discussion on the 2008 Farm Bill.

The School of Law LL.M. candidates in attendance not only had the opportunity to meet agricultural law leaders from around the nation and world, but they also presented posters for display at the conference. The candidates who attended the symposium are Angela Boyd, Kimberly Clark, Paul Goeringer, Jera Houghtaling, Andrew Hopper, Ashley Schweizer, Aaron Thompson, and Qiana Wilson.
