School of Law Graduate to Discuss Career in Workers' Compensation

Melisa Yopp, a senior workers' compensation specialist with Tyson Foods, Inc., will speak at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, November 17, in Arsaga's Coffee Shop in the Jim Blair Library Commons as part of the Young Law Library's Lawyer in the Library program.  Light refreshments will be provided.

During her presentation, Yopp will discuss her role with Tyson Foods, the world's largest processor and marketer of chicken, beef and pork and the second-largest food production company in the Fortune 500. She also will address  how she manages workers' compensation claims for multiple states.

Yopp graduated cum laude from the University of Arkansas School of Law in December 1998. She has been employed with Tyson Foods, Inc. since 1997. Yopp clerked for the workers' compensation department while in law school and then worked as an EPL claims specialist, a senior claims manager and a workers' compensation legal specialist before assuming her current position in 2005.

Yopp earned an associate's degree in nursing from Union University in 1985 and a bachelor's degree in healthcare administration from Graceland College in 1994.  She worked in long-term care as a certified director of nursing and administrator from 1990 to 1994 and as an occupational health nurse for Levi Strauss & Co. from 1994 to 1996.
