Alumni Updates

  • Stephen Engstrom (’74) received the Outstanding Lawyer Award from the Arkansas Bar Association, given in recognition of excellence in the practice of law and outstanding contributions to the profession.
  • Jim Hannah (’68) was nominated by President Obama to the State Justice Institute’s Board of Directors. Chief Justice Hannah is currently serving as chairman of SJI.
  • Glenn Vasser (’72) received the James H. McKenzie Professionalism Award from the Arkansas Bar Association, given in recognition of sustained excellence through integrity, character and leadership to the profession and the community which garners the highest honor to the legal profession.
  • Constance Akridge (’83) was elected President of the State Bar of Nevada.
  • Clifton M. “Clif” Smart, III (’86) was named interim president of Missouri State University.
  • Charles L. Harwell (’82) assumed the office of President-Elect of the Arkansas Bar Association.
  • Sean T. Keith (’93) was appointed Parliamentarian of the Arkansas Bar Association.
  • William A. Martin (’55) was once again elected to serve as Treasurer of the Arkansas Bar Association.
  • Hastings Hanshaw and Collin Kennedy (both ’99) recently settled a contentious premises liability wrongful death action on behalf of their clients in Texas. Mr. Kennedy’s work resulted in a multi-million dollar settlement paid by the Defendant property owner.
  • Helen Woodyard Brown (’02) was elected to membership in the Bass, Berry & Sims PLC Memphis office.
  • Steven W. Quattlebaum (‘83) is recognized in Chambers USA’s Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers in the area of General Commercial Litigation for 2011.
  • John E. Tull III (‘84) is recognized in Chambers USA’s Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers in the area of General Commercial Litigation for 2011.
  • J. Cliff McKinney II (‘02) is recognized by Chambers USA’s Guide to America’s Leading Lawyers in the area of Real Estate 2011.
  • William Saxton (’09) was promoted Marine Corps Captain while serving in Afghanistan.
  • Henry M. Morgan, Jr. (’82) was named to the Best Lawyers in America 2012 list in the area of Public Finance Law.
  • Debbie Dudley Branson (’80) once again earned recognition in the Texas Super Lawyers list of the state’s top attorneys.
