About the Clinic
Under the direction of Professor D’lorah Hughes
The Juvenile Defense Clinic provides representation to individuals facing misdemeanor criminal charges in the juvenile delinquency system in Washington County. Student attorneys represent their clients from the arraignment hearing through the conclusion of their case. Cases are referred to the Juvenile Defense Clinic by the Washington County Public Defender’s Office.
For Prospective Clients
The majority of the cases handled by the Juvenile Defense Clinic are referred to us by the Washington County Public Defender’s Office. However, if you have a case before the Juvenile Court System in Washington County and need representation, please call the Legal Clinic at 479-575-3056 and ask for an intake appointment.
For Prospective Students
The Juvenile Defense Clinic is allows students to gain a working knowledge of criminal procedure, client counseling, and cour room advocacy by representing juvenile clients facing criminal charges in the Washington County Juvenile Court System. Students earn 3 hours of graded course credit for their participation in the Juvenile Defense Clinic.
Juvenile Defense Clinic Students must be eligible for licensing under Rule XV of the Arkansas Rules Governing Admission to the Bar, and have taken LAWW 6203 Trial Advocacy.
