Justice Sandra Day O'Connor Helps Dedicate School of Law Building

Sandra Day O'ConnorThe Honorable Sandra Day O'Connor, former associate justice of the United States Supreme Court, was the keynote speaker at the dedication of the University of Arkansas School of Law building on October 3, 2008. Other speakers at the dedication included School of Law Dean Cynthia Nance, Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel, University of Arkansas Chancellor G. David Gearhart, and Chair of the University of Arkansas Board of Trustees Jim Lindsey.

Justice O'Connor's address focused on the socially progressive history of the School of Law, in particular the story of the "Six Pioneers," the first six African American students enrolled at the law school. She also praised the new law school building as among the very finest anywhere in the nation.

The dedication ceremony culminated in a ribbon cutting and reception for alumni and friends of the School of Law.
