The Keepseagle Tax Education Clinic, the first project of the Indigenous Food and Agriculture Initiative, will provide general tax filing information and record keeping requirements to Keepseagle successful claimants and settlement recipients to aid in their tax preparation.
Tax relief was included in the $760 million Settlement with the United States Department of Agriculture (“USDA”) in the Keepseagle v. Vilsack class action lawsuit. The lawsuit claimed the USDA discriminated against Native Americans by denying them equal access to credit in the USDA Farm Loan Program.
