Patent Boot Camp

Patent Bootcamp 2020 is a one-day seminar aimed at offering participants training on the basics of intellectual property law, patent law, and the patent application process. The goals of the bootcamp are: (i) to identify and discuss the challenges women/minority/indigenous communities face with protecting their innovation; and (ii) to provide intense training about the U.S. patent system and the patenting process.

The program has been approved for 8 hours of general continuing legal education (CLE) credit.

This one-day program will focus on teaching the basics of intellectual property law in general and patent law in particular, as well the basics of the patent application and prosecution process. The program will touch on a host of issues including: pre-filing considerations, invention disclosure and patent preparation, claim drafting, patent application preparation, patent prosecution, patent litigation, and patent counseling. The program will also involve a review of recent developments in the law. Overall, with an eye towards successful prosecution and enforcement, attendees will learn how to prepare a patent application that satisfies the statutory requirements for patentability.

Target Audience: Innovators, entrepreneurs, individuals in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), patent attorneys and patent agents with or without a Patent Office registration number or little patent experience.
