Chauncey BrummerProfessor Carlton Bailey earned his B.A. from Talladega College and his J.D. from the University of Chicago. He practiced law in Minneapolis for six years before moving to Fayetteville to teach at the University of Arkansas School of Law. Bailey taught at the University of Arkansas from 1978-2018. He became a tenured faculty member in 1983. He served as the director of the Law School Legal Clinic before being promoted to professor in 2005 in the Ben J. Altheimer professorship and was then appointed as the Robert A. Leflar Distinguished Professor of Law in 2007. Professor Bailey taught Criminal Procedure, Trial Advocacy, Pre-Trial Skills, and Basic Evidence. Bailey served as a member of the Governor’s Alternative Sentencing Commission in 1988 and 1989. From 1991 to 2000 Bailey was a member of the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Professional Conduct.
