Request Disability Accomodations

In order to request accomodations under the University's Center for Educational Access' policies, please follow the procedures outlined below.

1. Complete the  Request for Services Form

If you do not receive an automatic confirmation email within 30 minutes of your submission, please contact us!

On the form's Additional Information section, please be sure to select "Law Degree" and under Affiliations section, select "Law Student."

2. Monitor UARK Email to Schedule an Access Plan Meeting:

Within 3 business days from receiving your request for services form, we will email an appointment request link for you to schedule the required access plan meeting

(In-person or virtual via MS Teams) and email you confirmation once scheduled.

Note: Please allow 1 hour for this meeting. All are subject to availability.

3. Provide documentation of disability or medical condition that supports each accommodation request by one of the following methods:

We will notify you of your registration status and next steps through your UARK email.

Based on a combination of information obtained in the access plan meeting and disability-documentation, the CEA staff will review your request, and may consult with School of Law administration and campus partners to determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations.

Once a determination is made, the CEA will send an official notification of approved accommodations (accommodation letter) and next steps directly to 1.) you and 2.) the School of Law's Director of Academic Success (or the Dean's designee).

On the request for services form (application), we will ask you to tell us about:

  • The disabilities you are seeking accommodation for
  • What previous accommodations you may have used (if any)
  • How the accommodations you request will help remove any barriers you may be facing and help you succeed

Accomodation Implementation

The CEA and the School of Law's administration work together to help students with disabilities achieve and maintain individual autonomy.

Once your registration is complete, you must schedule an appointment with the School of Law's Director of Academic Success (or the Dean's designee) to discuss accommodations and ensure timely implementation.

IMPORTANT: The School of Law only requires one accommodation letter for the duration of a student's academic program. However, students should contact the Director of Academic Success (or the Dean's designee) every semester to ensure accommodation needs are addressed.

Students should NOT contact a professor directly as this may compromise the student’s ability to be graded anonymously.

If you need any additional accommodations (or changes to original accommodations), you must schedule an appointment with the CEA to discuss those changes. Requested changes in accommodations are communicated tothe School of Law by the CEA, and students will be required to schedule another meeting with the School of Law's Director of Academic Success (or the Dean's designee) to discuss the requested changes.

Disability Documentation

In general, documentation should be provided by a professional. Documentation may include assessments, reports, and/or letters from qualified evaluators, professionals, or institutions. Common sources of documentation are health care providers, psychologists, and diagnosticians. Copies of accommodations approved from a previous school(s) such as accommodation agreements/letters, 504 plans, IEPs, ARD documents and/or standardized exams can also be included as additional supporting information.

All documentation will be used to determine if the student’s accommodation request is reasonable and appropriate.

Suggested Documentation Elements:

  1. Typed on letterhead, dated, and signed by a qualified professional.
  2. State the disability or disabilities.
  3. Describe the impact or symptoms of the disability.
  4. If appropriate, discuss the severity and/or expected progression.
  5. If appropriate, list medication side-effects.
  6. Current and/or past accommodations.
  7. Any recommended accommodations.
